Psychologist
Colin is highly sought after because he is an experienced psychologist having worked in medical centres and schools for more than 30 years. He has completed over 20,000 clinical sessions of counselling. He is trained in all areas of counsellling and therapy and works with people of all ages, occupations and backgrounds. His talents have been shared with over 80 intern psychologists who are all now fully registered and working in a range of settings across Australia.
I am a warm, open and collaborative clinician who has many years experience with, and a passion for, working with clients on their changes and growth across the lifespan. My goal is to effectively support and help empower clients to navigate and grow through life’s inevitable challenges. I believe this is particularly important for those battling adversity during our current strained times.
I completed my Master of Education (Counsellingf Psychology) with Distinction at the UNiversity of Western Sydney and have vast experience as a psychologist in a variety of settings including e-mental health, face-to-face private practice, clinical supervision, hospitals and schools. I value working within a variety of settings and with a diverse group of clients, and I am genuinely curious about people’s individual stories, what motivates them to grow and supporting them on this journey.
I utilise individually tailored and evidence-based approaches and strategies to help my clients achieve their therapeutic goals. As part of this process, I help clients develop effective ways of responding to, and managing, these difficulties. I have worked with clients experiencing many different types of issues including anxiety and mood problems, life transitions, workplace and study stress, relationship and communication difficulties, sleeping problems, self-esteem issues and burnout.
I am trained in level 1 and level 2 in EMDR and along with this technique, I work within the Brief Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) frameworks. In sessions with clients, I also use Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness, Psycho-Education, Systematic Desensitisation and Non Directive Counselling. With this combined approach, I empower my clients to develop a greater understanding of their feelings, actions and impact on others. Furthermore, my approach helps clients build the awareness and confidence to develop new and helpful ways of responding to others and challenging situations.
“I empower my clients to develop a greater understanding of their feelings, actions and impact on others.”
