Mrs Harkeet Puria

Harkeet Puria

Hi, I'm Harkeet

My interest in psychology stems from my lived experience, navigating challenges, and continually learning what it means to be human. My goal is to normalise human experiences and encourage self-reflection.

I am a warm and compassionate practitioner, offering a strengths-based and collaborative approach to therapy. I support my clients by empowering them to navigate and grow through life’s challenges and its inevitable ups and downs. I am a qualified and experienced psychologist, having worked in Schools, Higher Education, the disability sector, and private practice. I am bilingual, speaking English (primary) and Punjabi (secondary) languages, and I have experience in supporting clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

I am also a parent to a young child and I understand the challenges of balancing personal and work commitments.

My Approach

I provide tailored and evidence-based strategies to assist clients in gaining a better understanding of themselves, their difficulties and developing effective ways of managing and responding to these. I have worked with many different types of presentations including anxiety and mood disorders, Adult ADHD, sleeping difficulties, parenting challenges, self-esteem issues, life transitions and burnout.

I draw on a variety of evidence-based psychological interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Compassion focused therapy according to individual client’s presentations and the purpose for therapy. These approaches empower clients to develop a greater understanding of their thoughts, feelings and actions, their impacts, and developing new and helpful ways of responding.
