Hi, I'm Robyn

I work with children, teens, young people and adults. I have a warm, empathic and collaborative style that includes a mentoring and coaching style with teens and young adults. I have experience supporting young people and parents with neurodiverse presentations. I support people of all ages with challenges around confidence, anxiety, low mood, family changes, social skills and organizational planning.

I love connecting with people, learning, and supporting people to achieve positive mental health. I like trying new things and aim to see each day as an opportunity to take a small step towards achieving something, regardless of whether it is towards a previous or new goal. I believe that each small step taken teaches us something new and brings about change.

I feel that despite humans all being so different and having experienced such varied lives, we all fundamentally wish to feel happy and positive as much as possible and this looks different for each of us. I am grateful for technology that can provide us with so much knowledge. I am also aware that it is now important that we all develop increased self-discipline and new skills to enable us to stay focused on our responsibilities and goals, with the associated distractions that technology can present for us all. I have learnt that simple things can bring us the greatest joy and can often be undervalued, especially in such a busy and materialistic world. A highlight for me each day is watching my two Groodle dogs, trained as therapy dogs, playing with each other and sharing their affection with our family and our rescue cat.

I feel that life experience constantly changes us and I aspire to learn and improve from these experiences as much as possible. I changed careers from having spent many years in organisational psychology to working directly in mental health. My younger brother took his life at just 20 years of age and I am motivated by a desire to support others facing challenges and to hopefully prevent other families from experiencing tragedies of this nature. I have experience working face to face and with telehealth, as well as in schools and organisational settings.

My Approach

I have a warm, friendly style that assists people feel comfortable opening up and speaking about their challenges and strengths. I incorporate a range of evidence-based strategies. This could include providing information about thoughts, moods, and physical reactions, along with helpful strategies to identify and promote more helpful thinking styles. If relevant, motivational interviewing techniques may be incorporated to assist with goal setting. Positive psychology, mindfulness, psychoeducational, and cognitive behavioural therapy are drawn on as relevant in sessions. I have experience with supporting children, young people, adults and parents across a range of varied life challenges and mental health concerns.
