Hi, I'm Lacey

Hello, I'm Lacey. Welcome to my profile! I firstly would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which I work and pay our respects Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be, Aboriginal land.

I have always been interested in Psychology. Even as a kid, I wanted to understand the human mind, and why we do what we do. And when I was exploring my non-Psychology interests, Art for example, I found that I gravitated towards the Psychology related content within. Did you know that the Surrealist art movement was in part influenced by the book "The Interpretation of Dreams" by Sigmund Freud? (I was so moved by this discovery that I promptly bought the book, only to read one page of course).

All roads lead to Psychology, or at least they do for me.

So when I finished school - I was privileged enough to have access to a university level education - a Bachelor of Psychology degree was the obvious choice. And after a few years in the workforce, I began my training to become a Psychologist in 2017.

I have been a Telehealth Psychologist since 2020, with no plans to return to the office. I just love being able to work remotely - I think there is something really special about being able to access mental health care from the comfort of home, or if not home, then at a place of your choosing. And hey, sometimes it's just nice to have one less place to go in our busy lives.

My Approach

I describe my therapy style as adaptive, collaborative and respectful. I do not use a "cookie-cutter" approach with my clients, I really want to get to know you - or at least the parts you feel comfortable sharing - so I can develop a case formulation (super clinical way of saying make a therapy plan based on the information you provide) that is unique to you and your needs. I also invite feedback at any time throughout our time together - if something we work on together does not click with you for any reason, no worries! More than happy to discuss this with you and make changes. I just want to help and support you to the best of my ability.

I would also like to mention that I consider myself an ally to the LGBTIQA+ community, the Neurodivergent community, the Chronic Illness and Disability community, and I am also very comfortable supporting clients with cultural and religious backgrounds different to my own, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Please feel free to let me know if I can be a better ally.
