Hi, I'm Janice

Hi I'm Jan,

I am a dedicated person, passionate about mental health and helping people to achieve an improved wellbeing through it. I will teach you how to understand and manage your mental health, helping you set long term goals that are achievable, and allow you to get what you want out of life.

I am an empathic clinician who will walk beside you to help navigate life's challenges. I work with people across the lifespan but have a particular interest in the adolescent years. I also have an interest in grief especially with pet loss. My aim is to empower clients to problem solve and to understand how to manage changes within their lives. My career started as a high school teacher and from here I became interested in psychology and retrained as a school counsellor and continue to work in schools. I also work in private practice and have experience working across the lifespan. I am interested in hearing people's individual experiences and helping them to reach their full potential.

My Approach

My approach is individually tailored, evidence-based and collaborative. I use strategies that help my clients to both understand themselves, their difficulties and how to manage them. I have worked with clients with anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, ASD, burnout, work stress, drug and alcohol addictions.

I work primarily within the Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) and Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT) frameworks. I also use Dialectical Behaviour therapy (DBT), Interpersonal therapy (IPT), mindfullness, solution focussed therapy, schema therapy and play therapy.
