Hi, I'm Stephanie

The act of revealing oneself fully to another and still being accepted, may be the major vehicle of therapeutic help - Irvin D. Yalom

I look forward to supporting you with current challenges you may be experiencing. It is a privilege to journey with you on your self-discovery to foster a better quality of life.

I am a registered clinical psychologist that has been providing psychological therapy for the past 10 years. I have worked in various settings including private practice, public mental health (hospital), community mental health, and education. The therapeutic alliance is the foundation of the therapy process, which I place great emphasis on. I am mindful at treating each person as a unique individual and adopt a person centered and recovery-oriented approach. This will foster a safe therapeutic space to respectfully and meaningfully explore and understand your personal issue(s). I'll work collaboratively with you to assist with establishing therapeutic goals, gain some understanding of you, and generate strategies with you that may improve your quality of life and in turn, relieve the level of your distress.

My Approach

I adopt various approaches to tailor treatment to the individual (e.g., Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing), my main interest and approach is utilizing principles of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), a form of psychodynamic treatment. ISTDP aims to help individuals overcome their internal resistance to experience feelings about their present and past, which have been warded off as such feelings are too painful or frightening. It is an experiential approach involving the unconscious forces and transference feelings.
