Mr Garry Byrne
Psychologist

Hi, I'm Garry
I am committed to providing respectful, compassionate, and outcome-focused support that empowers clients to move toward greater wellbeing, clarity, and connection in their lives.
I am a registered psychologist with extensive experience working across private practice, community health, trauma-informed care, and multidisciplinary settings, supporting adolescents, adults, couples, and families through a broad range of psychological presentations and life challenges. My work is grounded in a relational, transparent, and collaborative approach, with a strong emphasis on creating a safe and authentic therapeutic space where clients feel heard, understood, and actively involved in shaping meaningful shared goals.
My Approach
I believe therapy works best when it is built on trust, curiosity, and genuine human connection. I aim to support clients in developing greater self-understanding, emotional flexibility, resilience, and confidence, while recognising the unique experiences, strengths, and identities each person brings into the therapeutic process. My approach is adaptable and person-centred, drawing from evidence-based modalities while remaining responsive to each client’s individual needs, pace, and preferences.

Cultural Competency
I have completed a Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Competence Training.
Completing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Competency Training has strengthened my understanding of the importance of cultural safety, reflective practice, and the ongoing impact of historical and intergenerational trauma within therapeutic work. It has reinforced the importance of self-determination, ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples remain empowered, respected, and central in decisions regarding their care and wellbeing.
