Hi, I'm Marian

Hi, I’m Marian

Welcome to therapy.

Throughout our lives we face challenges and changes. Our beliefs, motivations and needs evolve but we may not know where we are going or how to get there. I use a collaborative approach to work with you to understand your strengths, your experiences and your challenges to promote positive mental health and wellbeing.

I benefited from therapy myself after becoming a parent and finding the changes in my life difficult to cope with. This experience taught me how beneficial it can be to have a safe, non-judgemental and understanding place to talk. Because of that experience, I want to help others understand how they can work through their problems and can thrive in their daily lives.

I believe we can all benefit from having a safe, trustworthy person who will not judge us, does not condemn us for our previous mistakes and is genuinely interested in helping promote our mental health and wellbeing, to find joy in our lives.

We can all have periods where we are struggling or looking for more. I work with you to understand what you are dealing with and develop strategies that work for you, in your unique circumstances, that make a difference to you in your life. Difficulties occur throughout the lifespan, these can happen in important points in our life, such as leaving school or work, starting a family, menopause or change of life, and retirement. Or they can happen in between those moments, when we are stuck in a rut or seeking more. Whatever is happening, having a safe space to talk through these challenges can help.

My Approach

My approach promotes a diversity-affirming and inclusive practice, believing everyone has the right to feel safe and respected. I prioritise a strong therapeutic relationship where you will feel heard, valued and understood. I provide a welcoming and supportive space where you can talk openly about what you are experiencing.
I have several evidence-based treatment styles which I draw from to select the approach that best fit your needs and goals. These include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and a Psychodynamic Approach. These techniques are integrated into supportive counselling in a genuine, open conversation style.
